In the current political era where rancid politicians attack reality, science, and encourage prejudice it can feel like the whole nation is being gas lighted (made to think you are crazy). You aren't wrong because you are compassionate. If you feel pain and are told by someone that this suffering is somehow your fault, then you are being lied to. It is vital for our own care that we challenge this kind of reasoning.
